Introducing Our New Members

The holidays are right around the corner, and we invite you to celebrate with us by welcoming three new members who are joining us in our mission of collective giving. We hope you enjoy meeting them! We asked them three basic questions – "How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, What is your short and sweet biography, and optionally, What do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you?" Here are their answers!

Meet Traci Bermiss, and say hello the next time you see her!

“My dear friend Maya Smart introduced me to Impact Austin. Though volunteerism is a part of my DNA and I've been engaged in community service since childhood, my recollection of the first time hearing the word Philanthropy was in college in 2000, when I co-led a small group session with Warren Buffett & his family. From that moment, one of my life goals was to become a Philanthropist and I've always given where I can and when I can. Impact Austin allows me to be a part of a Philanthropic movement here in Austin, my community.”

“I am a Cybersecurity Marketer from Connecticut who loves snow, ice skating, traveling, creating family memories with my husband and raising our little Texans, who have found a home in Austin. I truly enjoy connecting people to one another and secretly wish to be a Maternity Concierge.”

“I used to be a volunteer figure skating coach for the amazing Figure Skating in Harlem non-profit organization and for fun, I learned to play ice hockey and was a co-captain on our Women's' MBA Hockey team at the University of Michigan.”

Meet Beth Campbell and say “Hi!” the next time you see her.

"A good friend who is a member introduced me to Impact Austin. She is a fantastic and positive person and inspires others to do good things. I figured if she was connected with the group, it had to be doing excellent things for the community."

"I am a software developer/designer and an avid mountain biker. I enjoy spending time with smart and kind people. I try to be smart and kind myself, but I am very aware of my imperfections!”

"Since I work in software development now, Impact Austin members might be surprised to hear that I have a Ph.D. in European History.  I still love history, but I am living evidence that you don't have to choose a path and stick to it.  There are many alternate paths you can take along the way."

Meet Margaret Daniels, and say hello the next time you see her.

“I was invited by a Church and Impact member, Kathy Hogle. We met and talked before going to hear Rebecca Powers. I enjoyed hearing Kathy's story and passion about Impact Austin. Afterward, I had the opportunity to see and hear Rebecca share her vision and how Impact Austin came about. It helped seal my decision to become a member without hesitation.”

“My name is Margaret, which means pearl and I don’t shorten it. I am an educator at an All Males campus in Austin. I utilize my organizational skills to communicate, collaborate and establish positive relationships to ignite and transform others to do the same.”

“I love to sing, inspire, and bring out the potential within others. I know how to balance my giving out by restoring my energy with monthly massages.”
