Here are some more amazing women that we know you will want to get to know better as the grantmaking year progresses. (Check out previous New Member Highlights) We asked them three basic questions – How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, what is your short and sweet biography, and what do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you? Here are their answers:
Meet Lenore Anderson and say hello the next time you see her!
“I heard about Impact Austin from a co-volunteer on a Mobile Loaves and Fishes food truck. I thought the concept of involving donors was a good one.”
“I spent my working life as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Educator. I have taught for several universities and practiced in several clinical settings. I am also Mom to 3 wonderful adults.”
“My Ph.D. is in Anthropology and I am interested in many cultural topics. I am an avid gardener, nature photographer, and traveler, and have taken up watercolor painting since my retirement.”

“I retired and returned to Austin last fall to discover a former UT colleague of mine, Kathleen Conlin, had the same idea in mind. As we rekindled our friendship and talked about the Austin we left behind 20 plus years ago, she mentioned having joined Impact Austin as a good way to get to know the city again through the nonprofit environment.”
“I am a former University Provost and Dean having moved into academic leadership positions following a career as a dancer/choreographer. Having been a lifelong and passionate supporter of the arts, I am enjoying the freedom of time in retirement to expand my volunteer interests into political activism and non-profit service. In addition to finding joy and personal growth in travel, time with my grandchildren is a top priority!”
“I have hiked in Nepal, zip lined in Costa Rica, been eye to eye with a pride of lions feasting on a fresh kill in Tanzania and folk danced with school children in China.”
