Impact Austin acknowledges the harm caused to our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) members and community.
We extend our love and support of the necessary healing needed in light of recent tragic events in Atlanta. We especially recognize that the past year has included a rise in hateful words and violent acts aimed at people of Asian descent.
We reaffirm our commitment to equality for all and zero tolerance for racism, bigotry, and hate of any kind. We are committed to manifesting and supporting efforts that embody unity and community.
For those who would like to join us in continuing to educate ourselves and act to create equity and denounce racism, here are additional resources to support those efforts:
Practice Solidarity to Stop Hate Crimes Against Asian Americans (Fred Blackwell, Feb 11, 2021, San Francisco Foundation)
As Violence Against Asian Americans Intensifies, the Moment for Philanthropy to Act is Now (Letter to the Editor, Mar 17, 2021, The Chronicle of Philanthropy)
