Impact Austin Members in Community News - Austin Under 40 Mentor of the Year Award

Collective giving is a powerful way to practice philanthropy. One of the benefits of gathering a group of philanthropic women together is that we also get to celebrate their community service accomplishments with them!

Kali´ Rourke is a long-time member of Impact Austin. She has filled many roles in the organization since joining in FY2005, volunteering on multiple Grant Review Committees, serving as a member of the Board of Directors (2011-2013), and volunteering on the Marketing Committee.

Recently, Kali´ was selected as a finalist in the 2018 Austin Under 40 Mentor of the Year Awards. The gala and announcement of the AU40 2018 awards winners will be on May 19th at the J.W. Marriott. Fellow finalists are Fayruz Benyousef, Laura Sovine, Matt Swinney, and Toya Bell. The Mentor of the Year Award is the only award for people who are over 40!

Impact Austin Member Kali RourkeKali´ has been donating her time, talent, and passion to mentoring for decades, but AU40 is recognizing her involvement in mentoring children through Seedling as founding Board President of the Foundation and as a Mentor, mentoring young adults through the Young Women’s Alliance YWA Connect program, and mentoring women who are interested in making philanthropy a part of their lives through her work with Impact Austin. She credits Impact Austin with teaching her to recognize excellence in nonprofits and the programs they provide to the community, and says,

“Everything I learned through my Impact Austin membership influenced what I looked for from mentoring programs and metrics. It was ‘on the job’ training to be a better board member, a better leader, and a better mentor.”

We congratulate Kali´ on this great honor and know that many Impact Austin members will be in attendance to cheer on one of our own.

We encourage our Impact Austin members to inform us when you, or other members you know, are recognized for your service to the community.

Impact Austin would be proud to recognize these members and congratulate them!  Our congratulations may be in a blog post and/or on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.
