Introducing Our New Members

Just a few more days to Join Impact Austin! 2018 approaches quickly, along with our fifteenth anniversary of giving high impact grants to the Austin community. We invite you to celebrate with us by welcoming three new members who are joining us in our mission of collective giving. We asked them three basic questions – “How did you find out about Impact Austin and what inspired you to join, What is your short and sweet biography, and optionally, What do you think might surprise or interest your new friends about you?” Here are their answers!

Impact Austin Member Christina BurkeMeet Christina Burke, and say hello the next time you see her!

“I was introduced to Impact Austin when I attended a coffee on behalf of The SAFE Alliance, which was one of the recipients of an Impact Austin grant.  I was asked to join on a scholarship to represent SAFE, which I was very excited to accept.  I was inspired by this generous group of women who do so much for our community and the story of how they came to be. I was also so impressed with how well run and organized this group is.”

“I spent my career as investor relations and global event planner in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas before moving to Austin and working in non-profit development.  I am the stepmother to a 17-year-old daughter who I have raised as my own for most of her life. As a family, we make it a priority to give back to our community. We are also avid supporters of wildlife conservation and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Africa.”

“I have traveled all over the world, and am therefore a self-proclaimed expert travel advisor; especially for those that seek off the beaten path adventure. Additionally, my husband and I love fly-fishing and have traveled near and far to enjoy our hobby.”

Impact Austin Member Nicole Gilger

Meet Nicole Gilger, and say, “Hi!” the next time you see her.

“My friend Sarah Elliott approached me several years ago about joining.  It wasn't the right fit at the time, but I always kept it in the back of my mind.  Not long ago she asked again if I'd be interested in joining.  I attended a coffee and the rest is history.”

“My name is Nicole but I usually go by Nikki. I am a CPA and have spent my career in public accounting. About a year ago I left public accounting and now work in the accounting department of a large non-profit. I'm also a mother to three young and very energetic children. In my spare time, I like to cook, watch football, and have fun with my family.”

I'm looking forward to being a part of Impact Austin, getting more involved in the community and meeting new people."

Impact Austin Member Molly McIntosh

Meet Molly McIntosh, and say hello the next time you see her.

“I became familiar with Impact Austin through my work with various non-profits. Impact's grant process is well known, both for its rigor and the partnership that is formed between Impact members and grant recipients. It's always been inspiring for me to see the difference that can be made when a group of caring women joins together to invest in the community and I wanted to be a part of the movement."

"The majority of my career has been built within the non-profit field and I find that this work feeds into my values of being a good steward of my community. When I'm not fighting the good fight, I can be found spending time with my husband and our pup, Charlie.”

"Due to sensory connection issues in my infancy, I didn't learn how to walk or talk until I was almost 3 years old! Thankfully, I was able to get help from doctors at Scottish Rite Hospital (A hospital where all patient services are free.) To this day I still keep in touch with the physical therapist, Fritzi, who is still dedicating her life to helping youth."
